“If people were like sunlight and poetry,
I bet most of ’em would do nothing but
turn each other into ashes and
Hide their lies behind metaphors
And appreciate their own adroitness.
The world would’ve been so grey, beautiful and helpless.”
On days like this I wish
For the clouds to walk away
And the sun to set
A little before mid- noon
I wish the wind could stop
Just for a little while
Because I am running out of words
And paperweight.
They are
Melting into my brain
Alphabets
Are drowning in my blood
But there’s nothing on the paper
No blue. No red.
Words,
I fold them up like paper
And open them up again
Hoping that this time
They’re jumbled up just right
And that they fall in place perfectly
When I blow them away.
There’s ink on my fingers
And a little blood on my lips
(I bit them you know)
A word I blew
Fell straight into my eye.
There’s one near my ear
It’s “cry”
And one is caught beneath my tongue.
I try to spit it out
But I think I pushed it inside.
The only ones
That are on the paper
Say that
I need to dress myself up
In lies
And be like sunlight.
Just for a little while.
What are your thoughts about sunlight?
What are your thoughts about poetry?
And most importantly, what are your thoughts about people?
That would be a different kind of peace, even if just for a little while π Beautifully done.

Let’s keep burning then, spread the light, shine bright until the night.
Then we fade
Like dying light

You can never tell who’s better and who’s bad. I guess that’s why we’re taught not to compare writers and poets. Happy blogging π

This so deep and beautifully written.
I don’t know why but it reminded me of one of my favourite poems, Funeral Blues by W. H. Auden.
If you haven’t read it, please do. I’m sure you’ll love it xx
